Working at a major daily newspaper and racking up awards along the way including a pair of Pulitzer Prizes and more than my fair share of local and regional photo awards. Even though the recognition for my work was gratifying, I felt as though something was missing - I didn't feel "whole". I felt consumed by my job and was missing out on most of what I considered important in my life. I often seem to find my best ideas while out in the woods on my bike or in the backcountry riding my snowboard. Now that I've finally brought that balance back into my life, I realize it's actually improved my work. I really enjoy what I do again and I think it shows. |
